Mark Radke is an esteemed attorney with a rich history in federal securities and financial service legalities. As Chief of Staff at the Securities and Exchange Commission during Chairman Harvey Pitt’s tenure, he played a pivotal role in significant financial events beginning in 2001. He was instrumental in shaping the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, guiding the Commission’s contributions to its legislative foundation and overseeing significant developments in the public accounting sector, leading to the inception of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.
Throughout his career, Radke has worked with several premier national and global law firms, serving as a partner or counsel. He has been involved in both civil and criminal enforcement, representing accountants, financial experts, investment professionals, broker-dealers, and corporate leaders in investigations by the SEC, DOJ, FINRA, PCAOB, and state attorneys general. Radke’s expertise also extends to representing insurance and reinsurance firms during domestic and international regulatory probes. His notable involvement includes being part of the litigation team for SEC v. First Jersey Securities.
Radke has served as a corporate monitor for organizations such as the World Bank Group to oversee anti-corruption settlements and was the SEC-appointed monitor following a significant Ponzi scheme incident, providing counsel in the oversight of entities like Paine Webber Group and Prudential Securities. He has advised corporate boards on governance, especially in addressing allegations of corporate misbehavior.
Beyond his legal career, Radke has been a board member and advisor to emerging public corporations and has taught courses on federal securities law enforcement at Georgetown University Law Center since 1999.
Radke earned his B.A. in History from the University of Washington in 1979, his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1982, and an L.L.M. in Securities Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center by 1984.
